Why You Don’t Need to Fear Getting a Dental Crown or Bridge

At Crestmead Dental, serving Marsden, Logan, and the surrounding areas in Brisbane, we frequently encounter patients who experience dental anxiety, particularly when it comes to procedures such as dental crowns and bridges. What if we could alleviate those fears and provide you with a sense of comfort? Let’s explore the specifics and discover why there is no need to be apprehensive about receiving a dental crown or bridge.

The Benefits of Dental Crowns and Bridges

When considering the core objective of dental crowns and bridges, one may come to recognize that it revolves around the concepts of restoration and enhancement.

Improved Appearance

Dental crowns and bridges are not just functional; they are the artists of the dental world. Imagine the transformation of damaged teeth into a perfect set of natural teeth. The improved appearance of your smile after a crown or bridge can be so profound that it may feel like a brand new start.

Increased Chewing Ability

It’s as if dental crowns and bridges are tiny superheroes for your mouth, swooping in to restore the power of your bite. The increase in chewing ability means enjoying your favorite foods again without discomfort or difficulty.

Prevention of Further Tooth Decay

You don’t have to let a damaged tooth ruin your oral health. Dental crowns and bridges act as a shield, protecting against further decay. It’s a good thing to remember that prevention is key, and these dental procedures are here to support the long-term health of your mouth.

The Different Types of Dental Crowns and Bridges

When it comes to the type of dental crowns and bridges, there’s something to suit everyone’s needs.

Porcelain Crowns

As elegant as they are effective, porcelain crowns seamlessly blend with your natural teeth. You may notice that porcelain crowns offer a cosmetic beauty to the point where distinguishing them from your real teeth becomes a challenge.

Metal Crowns

Suppose durability is your priority; in that case, metal crowns offer a robust solution, especially for teeth on either side of your mouth that require extra strength. Most people can appreciate the longevity and dependability of metal crowns.

Bridges

Bridges replace missing teeth, acting as a literal bridge between neighbouring teeth. It’s as if the gap left by a missing tooth is filled, restoring not only the appearance but also the functionality of your teeth.

The Procedure for Getting a Dental Crown or Bridge

What’s it like when you realize that getting a dental crown or bridge is a straightforward process? Let’s explore the stages:

Preparation

A local anaesthetic will numb the area, so you feel at ease. Your dentist will then prepare the teeth for the crown or bridge, ensuring a perfect fit. This stage of preparation is where the magic begins, setting the foundation for your new, beautiful smile.

Fitting

The fitting process is carefully handled to ensure your crown or bridge feels natural and comfortable. Notice what it’s like when the new addition to your teeth fits like a puzzle piece, perfectly designed for you.

Recovery

Proper care post-procedure ensures a smooth recovery. You might find yourself surprised at how quickly you adapt to your dental crown or bridge. Remember, following your dentist’s instructions is vital to maintaining the integrity and longevity of your dental work.

Conclusion

Every time you think about dental crowns and bridges, you don’t have to associate them with dental fears or anxiety. These procedures are part of modern dental care that prioritizes your comfort, function, and appearance.

From porcelain crowns that mimic natural teeth to the life-changing benefits of bridges, dental crowns and bridges are more than just solutions to dental problems; they are pathways to a renewed self-confidence.
